Who buys this grade

Fish-processing plants, feed-mineral blenders, food-ingredient distributors and salt packers, once the documentation described here is complete.

Specification

  • Fishery salt: washed and spun sea salt with minimal anti-caking, as sold by Nordic terminals to the klippfisk and salting industry.
  • Feed salt: coarse or fine sodium chloride for mineral premixes and licks; EU feed-additive registration and contaminant limits apply.
  • Table salt: iodisation and packaging rules differ by market (mandatory iodisation in many GCC and West African markets); we route table-salt demand to refiners.
  • Status: full Codex panel commissioned with an ISO 17025 laboratory; HACCP documentation in progress. Reports are shared with registered buyers when issued.
Codex Stan 150-1985 requires at least 97 % NaCl on a dry basis and sets limits for arsenic, copper, lead, cadmium and mercury. The 2016 and 2026 reports cover NaCl, calcium, magnesium and sulphate only. Heavy-metal, insolubles, moisture and microbiological results are the open items.

Typical analysis and contract targets

Typical values from laboratory reports on washed salt (2016, 2026); targets are agreed per lot and confirmed by load-port inspection.

Questions buyers ask about food, fishery and feed grades

Can I buy food-grade salt from you today?

Not yet as a food-grade claim. You can register interest and receive the laboratory reports when issued, and you can buy the same washed salt as an industrial grade now for your own refining.

Is the salt organic?

No salt is organic. Organic regimes cover agricultural products; sodium chloride is a mineral. We do not use the term and recommend buyers treat 'organic salt' claims from any supplier with caution.

Is the salt iodised?

No. Iodisation is done by refiners and packers to each market's rule. We can supply non-iodised raw material to them.
